About One Year Later

Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005. This experimental video documents events that occurred to crumble the levees of New Orleans from the perspectives of scientists, writers, and artists in Louisiana. All of the footage was captured within one week on the anniversary of Katrina. Footage of the destruction, especially in the Lower 9th Ward, is juxtaposed with individual statements. The forms are integrated into a composition of black rushing water, drowning the viewer as information is revealed about how oil company operations have created land loss and
increased the Gulf Coast's vulnerability to storms.
